About Me

My name is Tammy Raynor Petrosillo. I am a professional artist and art educator living in North Carolina. I am a 1988 graduate of Peace College (AA), 1990 Appalachian State University (BS) and earned a 2nd Bachelors from Meredith College in Studio Art and Art Education in 2004. I have been a fierce advocate for education and arts education for over 25 years. After 15 years in the corporate world working in advertising and marketing, I needed something new and more meaningful. I changed careers and have been working as a licensed art educator in North Carolina since 2006. I have seen a lot of changes to education here in NC over the past few decades; some good, some not so good. I believe that every child deserves a high quality education that includes the arts. My blog, the Academic Palette is about the importance of educating ALL children with a well rounded curriculum combining academics and the arts. My blog also focuses on what’s happening in NC education, why it matters and why you should care. I cover both general education matters, as well as matters relating to arts education.
